MONTREAL, QC – Thursday, September 21st, 2017 – Pyrowave is proud to announce that its team of founders Jocelyn Doucet, Jean-Philippe Laviolette and Jamal Chaouki were named to Canada’s Clean50 for 2018 in the Primary Resources category. Pyrowave is leading a worldwide trend towards improving resource efficiency and closing the loop on post-consumer plastic waste. The Pyrowave team started developing the first commercial technology using catalytic microwave depolymerisation in early 2010 through a research contract with Polytechnique Montreal. Eight years later, the technology is a high power microwave reactor producing the highest yields and best energy performance ever seen in the industry, enabling a high percentage of discarded plastics to be repurposed as brand new plastic. With this third version of the machine now in operation, Pyrowave is now selling the world’s first recycled monomer to the largest companies in the world: The first time that a commercial technology can depolymerize plastics after their use and return it back into virgin product. “Canada’s Clean50 Awards are announced annually by Delta Management Group and the Clean50 organization to recognize those 50 individuals or small teams, from 16 different categories, who have done the most to advance the cause of sustainability and clean capitalism in Canada over the past 2 years.” says Gavin Pitchford, CEO of Delta Management Group. Pyrowave team is extremely honored to demonstrate that closing the loop not only improves resource efficiency and global emissions but is also creating high quality jobs in the new circular economy. Jocelyn Doucet will be amongst approximately 120 past and incoming Clean50 Honourees meeting on Thursday September 28th at the “Clean50 Summit 7.0” on Toronto Island, to spend a day amongst peers and colleagues tackling common sustainability challenges”. Only 8% of plastics generated today are recycled – yet the costs to haul, store, sort and process plastics are enormous. Using patented Catalytic Microwave Depolymerization (CMD), Pyrowave places small, modular units directly onsite at recycling facilities and at producers of plastic waste.
